Parents

Parent involvement in Catholic education is important for several reasons:

  1. First and foremost, we recognize parents as the primary educators of their children, modeling a life of faith, stewardship and moral character.

  2. Academic achievement: Research consistently shows that students with involved parents tend to have higher academic achievement. When parents are engaged in their child's education, they can provide additional support at home, monitor progress, help with homework, and partner with teachers to ensure that their child's educational needs are met.

  3. Improved behavior and attendance: Parental involvement at SCS often contributes to better behavior among students. When parents show an active interest in their child's schooling, it sends a message that education is important.

  4. Positive school climate: SCS fosters a strong partnership with parents and creates a positive school climate. This positive environment enhances students' overall educational experience and contributes to a sense of belonging.

  5. Increased parent-teacher communication: Parent involvement facilitates regular and open communication between our parents and teachers. This communication allows parents to stay informed about their child's progress, strengths, and areas for improvement. It also provides an opportunity for parents to share important information about their child's well-being, interests, and learning styles, which can help teachers personalize instruction.

  6. Community engagement: Parent involvement strengthens the connection between schools and the broader community. When parents are actively engaged, SCS becomes a hub for community involvement and support. This supports our fundraising partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and volunteers, enriching educational opportunities for all students.

  7. Advocacy and decision-making: Our involved parents play a crucial role in advocating for their child's needs and advancing our school mission. By participating in CSAC, parent-teacher associations, and school committees, parents contribute their perspectives, voice concerns, and help drive strategic planning.

  8. Overall, our SCS parent involvement creates a collaborative and supportive environment that benefits students, teachers, parents, and the St. Catherine’s community as a whole.
