History

St. Catherine of Siena School is a Catholic elementary and preschool located in Vallejo, California. It includes preschool through eighth grades. Due to the efforts of Father Colm O’Kelly, Pastor of St. Catherine of Siena Church in 1985, and the cooperation of many dedicated parents, the school opened its doors on September 2, 1985.

The parish school is part of the Diocese of Sacramento and was initially staffed by an all lay staff. The school began with kindergarten, first and second-grade students. One additional grade was added each year thereafter. By the 1991-1992 school year, St. Catherine of Siena School had a full kindergarten through the eighth-grade program. The school consisted of self-contained classrooms from kindergarten through fifth grade. Grades six, seven, and eight were departmentalized. The first class graduated in June 1992.

All students participated in a full academic program and also receive instruction in Music, Art, Computer/Technology, Physical Education, and Spanish.

Under the direction of Father Jesus Soriano, the St. Catherine of Siena Preschool opened across the street on Avian Drive in September 2011. Currently, three and four-year-old students learn about our faith through play.
